As a success-driven executive leader, Alana has built, coached, and motivated top business teams in the wealth management sector and is currently Senior Vice-President, Product & Distribution at IG Wealth Management—the largest corporate sponsor of Alzheimer’s in Canada.

Alana’s connection to Gordie Howe Cares is multi-faceted. In 2020, a professional peer and CEO of IG Wealth Management stepped down after being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. Alana’s mother is also the primary caregiver for her aunt, who is currently battling Dementia, and she has witnessed firsthand the enormous commitment of time and energy required from the entire family to provide the necessary care. In addition, as a mother to a son with special needs, Alana has a personal relationship with the caregiver journey.

Born and raised in the Windsor-Detroit area, Alana recalls Gordie Howe being a household name — not to mention her family name is Howe. Alana was first introduced to Gordie Howe Cares while attending an annual GHC fundraising event in 2014, the GHC Pro-Am hockey tournament. Through her experiences supporting friends and family with Dementia and a strong desire to create an impact for caregivers, joining Gordie Howe Cares was a natural step. She came to the board in 2019, assumed the Chair Role of Governance & Nominating, and in 2021 accepted the position of Vice-Chair.
