Gordie Howe CARES (“CARES”) recognizes the right to confidentiality of personal information. This Policy explains how we collect, use, store and communicate your personal information. Our privacy policy applies to the personal information of CARES employees, members, donors, donor recipients, volunteers and other stakeholders.

Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

Personal information is collected from potential donors, donors, volunteers and individual grant applications and recipients for the following purposes:

To deliver information requested by mail or email.
To send information about the mission and activities of CARES.
To process donations.
To prevent or detect fraud.

To evaluate and modify our website and other communication activities based on the feedback we receive.
For any other purpose required under applicable laws or for any other purpose for which you have consented to.

We rely on reputable and secure third-party providers to collect and store personal information directly from you when you provide it to us, for example on our website, when an individual donation is made, the collection and storage of your personal information is done through one of or a combination of GoDaddy Inc., Blackbaud and/or CanadaHelps.

In addition to the above, we may also collect personal information when you decide to subscribe to a newsletter, enter a contest or take part in a survey.

The information collected includes the following personal information: last name, first name, mailing address, email address, telephone numbers, your communications with us, details on your registrations, orders, and/or donations.

The type of personal information we collect depends on various factors and on the context. We only collect such personal information that we consider necessary for the conduct of our business and for specific purposes.

Personal information may be collected if it is publicly available online, such as in social media accounts. Your personal information is also collected from third parties as follows: any and all information provided through www.GordieHoweCARES.com website is collected and stored through the combination of GoDaddy and CanadaHelps, while any and all information provided through the www.GordieHoweCARESproam.com website is collected and stored through Blackbaud or as otherwise permitted by applicable law. We may also collect personal information from our business partners or other third parties, provided that such third parties confirm that you have authorized them to disclose such information to us or that you expressly consent to such disclosure.

We automatically collect personal information provided by analytical tools or digital markers on our websites and in our applications. These analytical tools only collect a limited set of data, consisting of the Internet protocol address (IP address), date and time of the visit, pages visited, actions on our website, domain used to access the website, the type and version of the browser or operating system you use, as well as the previous and subsequent website accessed. This information is collected using cookies, as described in greater detail below.

We do not collect any information relating to payment cards. Payments made via our websites or applications are processed directly by our service provider, which has sole access to payment card information. Your online transactions are secured in accordance with our service provider’s transmission standards, so that your transactions are routed and processed securely.

Application of the Privacy Policy:

Mail Communications CARES sends information to donors and other stakeholders by mail. CARES does not share, trade, rent or sell its mailing or donor lists.
Email Communications CARES will occasionally send information and/or newsletter notices through email. This is conducted on an “opt-in” basis only. All emails sent include an ‘opt-out’ option should the individual wish to have their name removed from the email list.
Website and Secure Donation Handling Our website is operated by CARES for the benefit of our members and those interested in supporting our mission. It is free for use by individual web users. We record visits to our website for statistical research purposes only, without recording the identity of the user. Any personal information such as email addresses and financial information collected on CARES websites, is knowingly and specifically supplied to us by the website user. We contract third party providers to handle some of our online activities, including online donations. These companies offer secure sites. We select these service providers carefully and take all reasonable precautions to ensure that they protect your personal information. Our online software is routinely updated to maximize protection of such information. CARES relies entirely on these third-party providers to ensure the integrity and privacy of the personal and credit card information you pass to us via the Internet when you make an online donation. CARES does not retain personal information or credit card information on its website through the use of cookies. This is for the protection and privacy of all users. However, we cannot control the use of cookies by third parties who host data for CARES. If you do not want any information collected through the use of cookies, you may instruct your browser to deny the cookie feature. We welcome your feedback.
